Text on the plaque:
"E, para que seja sempre lembrada
neste pedaço de chão e rocha
Esta nobra figura por nós amada;
Ó mulher das terras de Cabo Verde"
Translation:
"On this piece of soil and rock
we shall always remember
this noble figure we all love:
oh woman of the lands of Cape Verde"
